You may think animals need lots of water in the summer, and you‘d be right! Even though cats and dogs don’t sweat much, they lose water by panting when they’re hot.
But what many people don’t realize is that your pets need just as much water in the colder months. Rather than losing water by panting, animals lose water when they inhale cold, dry, winter air and humidify it in their respiratory tracts.
This is very important for animals that live outdoors, as you want to make sure their source of water doesn’t freeze when temperatures get too cold. And if they live inside, make sure their bowl doesn’t run dry!
Here’s a fun fact about hydration: cats and dogs have different techniques for drinking water. Do you notice my dog Mexi’s method?
